Thanksgiving Funeral

Brian's pet rat "Emma" passed away the week of Thanksgiving. We held a funeral for her and Brian spoke. We were a little concerned about what he might say. Those of you who know Brian understand our concern. He ended up doing a great job. Dad made her a box and Brian decorated it. Brian has handled her loss very well. We will miss Emma.

Wake up call from Kate

Kate was upset about Brian not getting out of bed, so she decided to take matters into her own hands.  I only got there in time to take a picture.

Fall Colors!

After voting yesterday,
we decided to go see the leaves while the kids
had a day off from school. It is pretty near peak
in the mountains. It was so beautiful. I think
the kids actually were in awe of all the colors.
Kate's favorite color was green. Go figure.
We really are fortunate to live in this part
of the country where we can enjoy all seasons!
On the Blue Ridge Parkway
At Caesar's Head I wanted a cute picture of the kids
in the leaves. This is what I got.

Trunk or Treat

Last night was our annual "Trunk or Treat" at church. Kate was a Princess, Brian was dark side Anakin, and Justin was Jedi Master Mace Windu. Nate made his Chili for the cookoff and won 3rd place. I think he has won placement every year we've had the Chili cookoff. It's really good! I won 2nd place in the dessert cookoff. Betty won 1st! I went to my sister Alison's house and she showed me how to make her famous baklava, YUM!! The kids had fun playing the trunk or treat games. All the boys Brian and Justin's age dressed up as jedi's so they had light saber fights all night. It's a fun night that we all look forward to.

Stumphouse Tunnel

The kids had 2 days off of school recently so we decided to go somewhere we had never been. The Stumphouse tunnel is about an hour and 15 minutes away from our house. It was pretty cool. It is an old pre-Civil War railroad tunnel that was never finished. There are some stories (legends) that have been written about it. It's rather creepy inside. You have to have flashlights. The kids liked it a lot. It was a great spooky Halloween trip.

Trumpet Player!

Justin is learning to play the trumpet this year. He has really enjoyed it and is improving every day. He likes to play the songs he knows a lot. He seems to be liking Middle School and all of the extra things he gets to do there.

Kate's 4th Birthday!

Today is Kate's 4th Birthday. She spent the day having her hair cut and going to lunch and the mall with Mom and Aunt Alison. She said "I love the hair cut store!" She really liked having her hair washed and doing girl things. Later we enjoyed opening gifts and eating her cupcake cake. She got a lot of nice things and we are putting all her $ she got in the mail from grandparents toward a bike!! We think she looks beautiful and we can't believe how big she is!

Creeped Out!

Nate found this "creature" in the garage the other night. Does anyone have a clue what it is? We would greatly appreciate some help with this.
Thanks!

We have arrived!

Well, we are finally bloggers! I really don't know what I am doing but I am sure I will figure it out. Nathan and I decided that we should join the blogging community. It really has been fun to keep up with other family members and friends through theirs. I hope to keep all of you entertained through our daily happenings of juggling school, work, kids, church, and life in general. It sure is fun!
